My dear e-mail friend,
Because I respect your time, I’ll cut to the chase: I will be changing the format of this newsletter. I can no longer commit to sending this on a weekly basis.
I started this newsletter to promote my work and build closer relationships with readers. But I also had another motivation: It was my way of forcing myself to niche down—which is obviously self-help. I mean, if “The Good Life” doesn’t scream self-help, then I don’t know what does.
I’ve been proud of the work so far on Medium. Truly nothing makes me happier than realizing that my personal insights & systems were able to add value to someone else’s life. Writing is cool and magical like that.
But if I were to be really honest with myself (and you), I feel like this is far from my best work. And it’s not because I’m early in my writing journey, but because despite publishing more than a hundred articles to date, it feels as if I haven’t really gotten to know my own voice. My own style. My own lane.
I guess you could call it an existential writer crisis. But at this point, I feel the need to experiment and really sit with my own voice and tell more personal stories. Stories that don’t tell people what or how to think, but simply move them. Those are the best ones, I think. Honest narratives. A gentle nudge. Stirring, relatable perspectives.
Hence, I’m pivoting. Because we do what we’ve got to do. We try new things, feel lost, and get to know ourselves a little bit more every day. We do the hard stuff, go back to being beginners, embrace the shitty first attempts, and sacrifice short-term incentives (ehemmoneyehem) because that’s what it takes to unleash our potential.
I am not a full-time writer. My hours to practice my craft are limited. And I need to acknowledge that. I need to embrace my creative pace and priorities.
So, here’s what’s going to happen. I will send only my best work in this newsletter (maybe twice a month). Because you deserve no less.
Earnest storytelling.
Thoughtful ideas.
Quality writing.
And a shot at living more deeply.
These are the goods I hope to provide in my essays (Yes, the goal is to become a kick-ass essayist).
Thank you for signing up for my newsletter. And I hope you stick around. :) I’ll see you back here with my next greatest hit! In the meantime…
Create the good life,
❤️ Ria
