How to Architect Your Smartphone for a More Focused Life
Hello!
Welcome to today’s very techy edition! First off: a personal system on how I simplified and organized my phone. I know of some people who think of their phones as the bane of their existence. Such distracting, time-sucking little things, aren’t they? When I realized this last year, I did that hardcore thing and went full minimalist. Goodbye social media and games. My screen had more space than apps. All notifications were turned off.
Then I realized that that was just way too drastic. Besides, technology is supposed to be useful!
The main point of my story: As evil as our digital environment may seem, we are not its slaves. There are ways we can customize our devices to make them work hard for us. It’s all a matter of putting your apps where they belong, and culling everything that doesn’t serve you.
I know—easier said than done.
But hopefully, with my framework, you’ll be able to overhaul your phone in a more systematic, thoughtful, and beneficial way.
To get your phone 2022-ready, I present to you… the Pyramids of Phone Productivity:
In the story, I explain the basic principle, how to categorize your apps, and how I applied it in my phone:
The whole process might take about an hour or two. It really depends on how many apps you’re currently dealing with. Below is the link to the full story.
Happy architecting!

We’re Thinking About Facebook Wrong
The Vlogbrothers is one of the few Youtube accounts that I’ve subscribed to. It’s by John Green (author of The Fault in Our Stars) and his brother Hank (who is also a published author now). They’re both so thought-provoking, entertaining, informative, and most importantly, authentic. Their usual format is a 4-minute video. This episode is not within that format and is 20-minutes long. Still, Hank makes a dense yet compelling case on what Facebook is really doing to us.
I highly recommend you take the time to watch this.
